This is a wood carving of a wood spirit. This is a wall-hanging carving that is very collectible and will increase in value over time. This sculpture will make a great wood gift especially for a birthday. If you're into odd, different, or just meticulously created work that is very well done, this guy's for you.

This is a wall-hanging wood carving. I have attached a hanger on the back. Also on the back is my signature and the date. I include a certificate with all of my wood spirit carvings telling a bit about me and my process.
I made this carving in a Pine knot. Pine knots are sort of like the forest's driftwood. Any place a branch meets the base of a Pine tree, a knot is formed. When the tree dies and decays back into the earth, all that remain are the pitch-filled, resilient Pine knots. It is said that there are spirits that inhabit these knots, allowing them to remain in tact for so long. It is my job to release the spirits.

I carve using rotary hand tools. It takes a lot of time, effort and patience to carve a wood spirit. I begin with larger bits to rough out a shape, and then I finish with bits as small as needles. Once all of the carving is complete, I seal the sculpture with a coat of polyurethane and finish using oil paints.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
