This is a wood carving of a female, wood spirit. I hand carved this piece of original, wall art in a single piece of wood. She will make a perfect wood gift for him or her.

I carved this lady wood spirit carving in a large piece of Pine Knot. Pine knots are like the forest's driftwood. Any place a branch meets the base of a Pine tree, a knot is formed. These pitch-filled, resilient knots can remain on the forest floor for years and years without decaying. It is said that there are spirits that inhabit these knots that allow them to live for so long. My job is to release the spirits :)
It is very challenging as a carver to be soft enough to carve female faces. They require very different techniques than carving male faces. They're all so fun!
This is a wall-hanging sculpture. There is a hanger on the back as well as the date and my signature. All of my wood spirit wood carvings come with a signed certificate that tells a little about me.

I carve all of my wood spirit wood carvings with tools similar to those of a dentist. High speed, rotary burs are used for most of the wood removal. Small, round bits are used for smoothing and shaping, along with lots of sandpaper. I use just a tad of oil paint to accent the cuts.

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
