This is a wood carving of a heart. It is a very unique, handmade woodworking that makes a perfect wood gift. It is an especially great 5th Anniversary wood gift.
This heart is carved in a piece of Hard Maple Burl wood. Burl wood is very rare and unique. It has beautiful, interlocking-grain, many natural voids and bark inclusion.
I have dyed this heart red :) It measures 10" tall, 15" wide and 1 1/2" thick.
I will be glad to engrave something in the back of this wall heart free of charge. Something like, "I love you", "JC+TC", or maybe a quote that you love, etc... something fairly short but very meaningful :) Please let me know what you'd like engraved, AS A NOTE, when you purchase this carving.
I carve everyday for a living. It's my favorite thing in the world to do :) The two things that I love most are my family and carving wood. So, it only makes sense that I carve wood to support my family :) I have been at it for almost 9 years and I still love it just as much as I did when I began!
Burls are formed on trees due to some sort of stress. The result is that the tree sends a bunch of sprouts to one area forming a burl. Burls are rare and very unique. They have beautiful, interlocking grain. There is a lot of bark inclusion to this piece and it has some of the wildest grain I've seen :)
Everything in my shop is made by hand, by me, Josh.
I made this carving using many different tools. I began with a chainsaw to get my shape. Then, I used some power shaping tools on an angle grinder to round over the edges. I sanded this carving very finely to showcase the beauty of this wood. I finished it with several coats of polyurethane.
This carving comes ready to hang! I sign and date the back of all of my work.
I just love carving and working with wonderful wood!

Care instructions
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
