“Who Needs Teeth?!”
I carved this face in a Fir knot. Fir knots are sort of like the forest’s driftwood. Any place a branch of a Pine meets the base of the tree, a knot is formed. When the tree eventually dies and decays back into the earth, all that remain are the resilient, pitch-filled knots, just chilling on the forest floor. It is said that spirits inhabit the knots, which allow them to live on for so long. My job is to release the spirits.
I used hand tools, grinders and various bits to carve this guy. He is finished with urethane and thinned, oils.

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.
I know that, as a customer, you expect a certain level of control over the custom process and I, as an artist, expect a certain level of freedom. When we are able to meet in the middle, beautiful things can happen :)
Don't be afraid to message me :) Thanks so much!
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
