Dogwood walking stick
55” long, 2” diameter
I carved this old guy in a Dogwood stick. Dogwood is super strong, so it will never fail you. This stick has a vine-twisted area to it. When this tree was a sapling, it grew up with vines. The tree had to twist with the vines in order to survive. I really love vine-twisted sticks.
I used several different hand tools, small knives, and lots of sandpaper to carve this stick. It is finished with polyurethane and thinned oils.
I include a certificate with all of my Wood Spirit Carvings and Spirit sticks. The certificate tells a bit about me and my process.

Yes, I sometimes take custom orders :) Contact me and we can discuss the specifics.
I really enjoy creating themed walking sticks such as Odin, Thor, Baron Samedi or many, many other possibilities. If you'd like a stick with bears, owls, or whatever else you might have in mind, just shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
I am also happy to make custom chainsaw carvings of about any animal or object you'd like.
I know that, as a customer, you expect a certain level of control over the custom process and I, as an artist, expect a certain level of freedom. When we are able to meet in the middle, beautiful things can happen :)
Don't be afraid to message me :) Thanks so much!
My carvings can be cleaned using many different methods. A feather duster works nicely. Compressed air (duster or air compressor) also works well. If on a porch or indoors, my carvings will never need a new coat of sealer. Chainsaw carvings that are outdoors will need a fresh coat of sealer each year.
